To
further its mission of bringing the camping experience to people of
all ages and physical abilities, the Presbytery is creating an Adult
Conference Center at Living River. Its design will promote comfortable
fellowship and conversation and enjoyment of the surrounding
scenic beauty. The center will rest on a rise overlooking the
Cahaba, facing a beautiful wooded vista to the west, a perfect view
for restful contemplation and enjoyment. And surrounding
the center are unprecedented opportunities for outdoor fun and recreation,
most notably in the lovely four-mile stretch of the Cahaba River [link]
that embraces Living River. Facilities

Initially
the conference center will feature two lodges with the following
features:
- each lodge will accommodate
up to 44 people in 11 hotel-style rooms, each room with
two double beds [any details to add here?]
- each lodge will contain
meeting space, kitchen facilities, and outdoor cooking areas
- lodge facilities will be highly flexible,
comfortably adapting to groups of various sizes
- lodge facilities will contain handicapped-accessible
features to accommodate those with different physical abilities.
In addition to the lodge facilities,
there are other Living River facilities and amenities that can be made
available to Adult Conference Center visitors, including:
- a canoe launch and takeout
- an outdoor chapel
- an athletic field
- picnic shelters
- a ropes course and climbing
tower
- a swimming pool
- nature paths
The goal for completion of the initial Adult Conference Center facilities
is Winter 2011.
